Fasoracetam

Fasoracetam – Product Information

A non-stimulant compound that belongs to the Racetam family of nootropics.

What are Nootropics?

Nootropics are natural or synthetic substance, often referred to as cognitive enhancer, that is currently undergoing numerous research and clinical trials for their potential to improve mental performance, memory, focus, creativity, intelligence, and motivation.

In a recent 2016 study, nootropics were found to increase blood circulation and oxygen flow to the brain. This research is quite exciting as the potential for this class of compounds and their potential effects on brain health could be unmatched. The health of the brain depends on a continuous supply of oxygen and nutrients. [R]

What is Fasoracetam?

Fasoracetam, also known as Fasoracetam Monohydrate, is a non-stimulant compound that belongs to the Racetam family of nootropics. Initially developed as a vascular dementia treatment, more recent studies researchers have indicated its potential as an ADHD treatment due to partial interruption of mGluR neurotransmitter signaling. [R]

Animal studies have also indicated that the compound might be able to aid in improving sleep, boosting memory, minimizing withdrawal symptoms, and alleviating depression and anxiety. [R]

This compound is currently in phase 2 clinical trials. However, this also means that it has not yet been approved by the FDA for any specific medical use. In this section, we will review some of the current evidence about its mechanisms and purported effects.

Fasoracetam Research

Fasoracetam and Memory Loss

According to one animal study, fasoracetam was reported to prevent memory problems caused by baclofen (a GABA-B receptor activator) in rats. It also reportedly may reduce amnesia, possibly by increasing acetylcholine and reducing the effects of GABA-B activation. [R]

This confirms supplementary research that showed, like other racetam nootropics, it increases the amount of acetylcholine, the neurotransmitter most responsible for memory, learning, and cognition. [R]

Fasoracetam on Depression and Anxiety

The brain contains many neurotransmitters that trigger or inhibit specific reactions in the body. GABA calms the nervous system by preventing the transmission of certain signals.[R]

Abnormal GABA levels have been associated with certain psychiatric disorders, including anxiety and depression. According to one animal study, this compound reduced depression symptoms in rats that were conditioned to feel helpless to avoid negative situations (learned helplessness). [R][R]

Subjects given this compound in stressful situations were less prone to learned helplessness and other anxious or depressed behavior.

Fasoracetam on ADHD Treatment

One of the few publicly available human studies suggests that it may be a potential treatment for ADHD. The study, which involved 30 subjects between the ages of 12 and 17, tested the efficacy of this compound as a potential treatment for ADHD among adolescents who demonstrated a specific mutation in the glutamatergic gene network.

This mutation is strongly associated with ADHD and is present in a significant percentage of adolescents with the disorder. [R]

The subjects who took fasoracetam over the five weeks of the study showed marked improvement in all clinical measures during the trial. Reduction of ADHD symptoms persisted in post-trial testing, and none of the study participants demonstrated the development of either tolerance or dependence.

Fasoracetam Side Effects

Importantly, because this compound is relatively new, there is not much evidence about how safe it is for human subjects, or how frequently it might lead to negative side effects.

Therefore our products are for LABORATORY AND RESEARCH PURPOSES ONLY not for veterinary or human usage.

Fasoracetam and Phenibut

Data about the safety of this compound is relatively lacking, and so too is data about how it might interact with other compounds and substances. However, its reaction with another nootropic called Phenibut is currently undergoing numerous studies and trials. Phenibut is a compound that activates GABA receptors and is being researched for its potential to reduce anxiety and improve cognitive function.

Fasoracetam may increase the response to Phenibut by increasing the number of GABA-B receptors and decreasing tolerance to Phenibut. [R].

Fasoracetam stacks are most commonly researched by combining these 2 compounds as they may potentially potentiate its synergistic effects.

FAQ

Is Fasoracetam safe?

Because this compound is relatively new, there is not much evidence about how safe it is for human users, or how frequently it might lead to negative side-effects. Therefore our products are for LABORATORY AND RESEARCH PURPOSES ONLY not for veterinary or human usage.

Is it a Legal Compound?

Yes, it is legal to buy and sell as a research compound.

However, since this compound is on the World Anti-Doping Agency’s (WADA’s) list, it cannot be used by athletes and professionals. It is also illegal for human consumption. [R]
